October 2024 Biodiversity of the Pevensey Levels – and how to record & monitor it

Graeme Lyons

Our second winter lecture was held on Wednesday 16th October when expert Entomologist and Ecologist Graeme Lyons came to speak to our group about the Pevensey Levels and the importance of recording.

His in-depth presentation on the Levels and on some of its rare species. He shared the work he did during his time at the Sussex Wildlife Trust highlighting the vital role of management, including livestock for conservation grazing and on maintaining the network of ditches.

He also touched on his subsequent freelance work for the likes of the Iford Estate and suggested ways in which we could help encourage more recording on the Levels by providing better access.

For those who were unable to attend I recorded a video of the presentation which you can watch on YouTube here.
