About Us

The Countryside Stewardship (CS) facilitation fund supports people and organisations that bring farmers, foresters, and other land managers together to improve the local natural environment at a landscape scale. This landscape scale approach can cover land under existing agri-environment and forestry/woodland agreements, common land and land not currently covered by a scheme. It builds on the principles of partnership working to deliver environmental benefits, as demonstrated by various initiatives, including farm clusters and the farmer-led Nature Improvement Area

The Pevensey Levels Farmers Cluster Group

was successfully launched in January 2018 and will run for a minimum of 3 years andit is part of the 92 nationwide Facilitation Fund cluster groups. Our cluster group currently has 50 members and covers a farmable area of over 5000 Hectares.

A Key Priority

is to extend and link exisiting habitats to increase connectivity and reduce fragmentation – to use finding to buffer access and create natural ecotones to manage predators, introduce wet grassland expertise and rush control, address crassula sp. issue across the levels, whilst contributing to significant improvements in water and air quality, flood and coastal risk management.
